The Inspiration

It had been just over three years since the day he moved into his dream home. The home he worked long and arduous hours to build himself from the ground up. But since the day he moved in, his work had consumed him and he never did get the opportunity to create the ideal garden that belonged with his beautiful home. 

He waited patiently by the end of the driveway and the dirt patch he called his front yard for his sister to pick him up in her work Ute. It was his birthday the following week and she was taking him somewhere as a surprise. 

His sister had the music blaring as she rounded the corner, already excited for the adventure that awaited them. Jumping in the car, letting the music and the lavender-scented air freshener wash over him, he had to admit he was excited too. 

Arriving at the greatest garden world they had ever visited, he was filled with love and gratitude and the sudden urge to buy one of everything he laid his eyes on. The sights and the scents were overwhelming to say the least. 

What beauty surrounded them as they walked through the maze of garden magic just waiting for its magician to take over with a green thumb. 

Woody scented forest ferns tickled their faces, hanging leaf plants in colourful planter boxes brushed their heads as they walked underneath, and small and large citrus trees that grew in lemons, oranges, limes, grapefruits, and even some fruits they had both forgotten even existed filled their nostrils with energetic vibrance. 

Taking a turn through a gazebo covered in every inch with crawling vines and colourful blooms, they found themselves among rows of fruit trees ready for planting. Apples, plums, figs, pears, avocados, and apricots to name a few, sent an overwhelming rush of sweetness through their teeth. 

Almost a whole day had gone by and by the time they came out of this majestic garden world with a full Ute and a delivery truck of rocks, larger fruit trees, and garden ornaments booked for the following day, it was almost sundown. It was finally time to match his dream home, with his dream garden and he couldn’t wait to get started.
